Bambu Lab reusable spool: Less waste, lower costs, a better choice for the environment.

What does this mean for you? Less plastic that needs to be discarded and lower costs with every filament purchase. Empty spools no longer accumulate in your space, which is ideal both for your work environment and for the environment overall. In addition, the filament packaging is designed to reduce the use of non-recycled materials, further contributing to sustainability.

Important: every roll of filament—whether with or without a spool—is equipped with an RFID chip as standard, allowing you to easily manage your 3D printer and remotely monitor the material type and remaining filament amount (in connection with the AMS system).

How to refill filament onto the Bambu reusable spool::

1. Open the spool by twisting: Gently twist both halves of the spool in opposite directions to separate them.

2. Place the filament onto the spool: Place the filament coil onto one half of the spool, aligning the spool’s peg with the notch in the filament’s inner ring.

3. Remove the plastic tape:

  • First, remove the plastic tape closest to the end of the filament.
  • Insert the filament end into the appropriate hole on the spool to prevent it from unwinding.
  • Then, remove the remaining three plastic tapes.

4. Press the filament against the spool: Make sure the filament is evenly distributed and firmly pressed against the spool, leaving no gaps.

Bambu Lab’s reusable spool is included when you order filaments that come with a spool, and there is also an official 3D-printable model available.
